Complete paver restoration

Paver Sanding & Sealing That Brings Tired Hardscapes Back Into Focus

Blue Wheel cleans pavers, renews deficient joint sand and applies a compatible Trident sealer to suitable patios, walks and driveways. One coordinated process improves the surface, joints and finish without covering up failed construction underneath.

  • Trident Certified Contractor
  • Joint sand or PolySweep options
  • Matte to wet-look finishes

Paver restoration improves a suitable existing system; it does not correct failed base construction, active movement or drainage defects.

Representative before & after

Bring the pattern, color and joints back into focus.

These representative finish previews show how cleaning, joint renewal and a compatible finish work together—not just how a surface looks while it is wet. Results vary with the installation, movement and prior coatings.

Paver patio reset Cleaner units, renewed joints and a finish matched to the material.
Driveway detail A coordinated process for the pavers, sand and existing conditions.
Walkway renewal Sharper joints and a more intentional entrance to the property.

Representative finish previews are illustrative, not customer-project documentation. Final results depend on the existing surface, preparation, compatible product and selected finish.

More than surface cleaning

Bring the whole paver system back into focus

Interlocking pavers rely on properly filled joints as part of the system. When sand washes out, the joints collect soil, weeds gain a foothold and edges can become less supported. Sealing dirty pavers without correcting the joints simply locks in the problem.

Our process addresses the surface and joints in the right sequence. We assess drainage, movement, joint depth, old coatings and staining; remove compatible buildup; install the selected sand; then apply a compatible sealer when the system and conditions allow.

Choose your joint color. Then choose your finish.

Trident sealers are clear—the “color” comes from how much they enhance the existing paver. Joint sand is where you select an actual color. We pre-test the surface because the finished look varies by paver type and condition.

Our paver sanding and sealing process

Inspect

We review paver type, movement, drainage, joints, stains and previous sealer.

Clean

We use a surface-appropriate process to remove compatible dirt, growth and loose joint material.

Dry & prep

The surface and joints must reach the conditions required for the selected sand and sealer.

Re-sand

We install the chosen joint material and activate polymeric sand when that is the selected system.

Seal

After required dry time, we apply the compatible Trident sealer in a suitable weather window.

Care plan

We explain cure, access, cleaning and maintenance guidance for the completed surface.

What restoration can do

  • Remove compatible grime, organic growth and old loose joint material.
  • Refill viable joints with a selected Trident sand system.
  • Reduce joint-sand washout, weed growth and insect activity when the installed system is appropriate.
  • Refresh paver color and make routine surface cleaning easier.
  • Add water, stain or salt protection according to the selected sealer.

What it cannot do

  • Rebuild a failed base, correct ongoing settlement or stop movement caused by poor edge restraint.
  • Fix drainage, standing water, severe heaving or pavers that need substantial re-leveling.
  • Permanently eliminate every weed, ant or future joint-sand loss.
  • Make the surface stain-proof, maintenance-free or unchanged by Michigan winters.
  • Guarantee identical color across pavers with different age, porosity, repairs or weathering.

Paver sanding and sealing FAQs

Do all pavers need new joint sand before sealing?

No. The joints must be inspected first. Some projects need removal and replacement of loose or contaminated material; others may only need compatible joints topped up. We recommend the scope after checking depth, condition and the existing system.

What is the difference between joint sand and polymeric sand?

Trident kiln-dried joint sand is graded for segmental paver joints and can be hardened with a compatible joint-stabilizing sealer. PolySweep includes polymers and forms a semi-solid joint after correct installation and water activation. Joint dimensions, drainage and project conditions determine fit.

Will sanding and sealing stop weeds permanently?

No system can promise that. Properly installed joint material and stabilization can reduce sand loss, weed growth and insect activity, but windblown soil, movement, edge conditions and maintenance still matter.

Can you seal pavers that already have a coating?

Sometimes, but the existing coating must be identified and evaluated. Whitening, delamination, trapped moisture or incompatible chemistry can require stripping or a different plan. We do not apply a new film blindly over a failing old one.

Will sealing fix sunken or uneven pavers?

No. Sanding and sealing are surface-restoration services. Pavers with base failure, major settlement, severe heaving or drainage problems may need repair or re-leveling before restoration.

Why does weather matter so much?

The pavers and joints need the correct moisture condition, temperature and rain-free period for cleaning, sand installation, activation and sealer curing. We schedule around the current instructions for the products selected for your project.

How long before the pavers can be used?

That varies by sand, sealer, weather and whether the surface receives foot or vehicle traffic. Blue Wheel provides project-specific return-to-service guidance after installation.

Frequently Asked Power Washing Questions

Not on our watch! We use a technique called "Soft Washing" for delicate surfaces like vinyl siding and stucco. This involves high-volume, low-pressure water combined with specialized cleaning solutions to kill algae and lift dirt without the risk of high-pressure damage.
Nope! As long as we have access to a working exterior water spigot and all windows and doors are tightly shut, you can go about your day. We’ll send you a "before and after" photo gallery once the job is finished.
Absolutely. We use professional-grade, biodegradable cleaners. As an extra precaution, we pre-rinse your plants with fresh water and perform a final rinse after the job to ensure your landscaping stays healthy.
For most homes, once a year is the sweet spot to prevent mold, mildew, and algae buildup. However, if your property is heavily shaded or near many trees, you might want a touch-up every 6–9 months.
